I am a young collector and restorer. I purchased a Farmall MD (diesel)Cotton High crop this weekend. It runs good and is complete except the two drops for the rear axles. Anyone have any leads on where to find them. I was told that there is a difference between this and a "vegetable" tractor. It says MDCH on the serial tag. Also told 200 or so of these were made. Any suggestions or comments to this tractor. Thanks

There is a cotton farmer in Bakersfield, CA that has three derelict MCHs. He is on the south side of town. Last summer he sold me the special gearbox that replaces the standard belt pulley gearbox. I would have taken the final drives at $50 each if I had room on my truck. No, I won't be going back anytime soon. I am located in MA.

Don't know his name but I could probably find out using google maps and online county Registry of Deeds.

The MV and MDV drops are chain drive, the cotton harvester drops are gear drive. If you put the CH drops on, the tractor will go backwards in all the forward gears you have now unless other changes are made.

I may be wrong (foggy memory) but I think those drops (I think you mean housings ?) are the same as an old F-30 Farmall, should you know where some are laying around . Good luck on her...it's been a long, long time since I worked on one of those. Jim B.

Yes housings. The axle has a ten bolt axle cap where the housings are supposed to bolt on. This one has the wheel mounted on the axle directly as of now. Thanks for the lead. Ill do some checking.
