First tractor was a ride around airplane. With a propeller that spun as you pedalled. First thing happened little spring used for belt popped off. First mechanical repair for me. First tractors I sat on were at Ford Rotunda in Dearborn, probably 8N if I remember correctly. That was the number 1 place to go if you liked cars and trucks and boats and tractors and Ford keychains and ashtrays. Place burned down I think in 70's and was never rebuilt. Free rides in test cars, too.

First ones that I remember were IH 2wd in the 1:16 scale. I don't know the models off-hand, but I'm sure they were probably 66 or 86 series. And a 2+2 that I still have.

I'm currently working toward getting a collection of 1:16 toys to represent all the tractors and equipment I remember from the farm. Can't seem to find an IH 806 Wheatland, though - will probably have to custom make that someday...

Mine was a 460 Farmall, My Mom said my oldest brother repainted it at least twice and gave to me at Christmas again both times. He also used to make me implements out of baling wire nails and wood. The simple days, where did they go?

Never got a tractor - eldest brother had an old IH toy tractor that floated around and got lost. I found it outside in the dirt years later, brought it in and scrubbed it clean. I got a pretty red feed grinder to pull with it that christmas.

My all-time fave toy was my Tonka crane.just like this one:

Most of my first toy tractors, trucks and cars were Aurburn Rubber. The tractors that I can remember from the toy box had the drivers heads chewed off. I am sure they were painted with lead based paints as well. (:^D All paints from that time were led based.

How in the world did I make it to 70.

In 1958 I got a John Deere 620 and all the tools. Combine, mounted picker, disc, manure spreader,wagon...I'd have to find the old black and white picture to know if there was anythig else. It had a 3 point and I got a mounted plow for it for my birthday the next year. Pretty well wasted all of them, but I've bought everything and replaced them all. Got an Oliver 88 pedal tractor for Christmas in 1956. Still have that and had it restored with Eska tires and correct pedals.

I believe it was a narrow front 544? IH. I see them advertised as 544 toys on ebay, so I believe it was a 544. Also a 4020 narrow front. I still have quite a few of them I got in the mid 70's. Oldest son wrecked a few at grandma's when he was a toddler,so we pulled them away till he was older. Some people say to sell them.

Mine was a Hubley. It was a red wide front tractor in which the entire wide front steered rather than just the wheels. It was probably most like a Massy Harris 44 or maybe an M. My brother and I each had one. A few years later we each got 930 CASES. Four of us boys....The oldest two chopped sileage in the dining room, and my older brother and I (I'm the baby) hauled loads with the Hubleys. The "silos" were in the bathroom. We were pretty creative/resourceful. We did it all with just the four tractors; no choppers, wagons, blowers, etc. Some of the finest memories of my childhood. I still have the 930, but after years of chopping and heavy tillage the drawbar broke off.

I would say we got the Hubleys in 1965 and the 930's in 1969. My toys are a little bigger now. I have three CASES: a VAC14, an SC, and a DC. They still have the drawbars on them!

Good question,
Glenn F.

John Deere 3010 tricycle I was about 11 years old when I got it and was more into guns by this time so I didn't play with it much. I also got a 4010 WF, square baler, mowing machine, silage wagon, disc, 4 row planter, and a manure spreader. I still have them on a shelf in my office.

Mine was a Case 1030 in 1/16 scale. Wore it completely out. Next, I received a Ford 5000 with SOS with a 2 point lift and a Ford 8000.

My first tractor was a 1:16 scale Case IH MFWD w/ duals on it. all the decals are long gone and I can't remember any model number on it. I think it might be a Magnum of some sort though, but not sure. Woulda got it in the late 80's. I know mom says she spent a fortune on that one back then...

I also had 2 hand-me-down pedal tractors that I rode the heck outta. My brother just redid one of them, it's an IH of some sort and it looks better than I've ever seen it.

It was a plastic Farmall H sold at the IH Dealer I wore two of them out when I was a boy 40"s early 50"s. also had a spreader, plow, disc, and IH pickup. Used an ereactor set and tinker toys to make other implements. I wonder what they would be worth today.

Got a John Deere A with a man driving. Just like dad! Played with that darn thing for years till it was junk. Bought another one a couple years ago paid $125 bucks for it! Should have taken better care of my toys! That sandbox had a fortune in it! Sure was fun! Had one of everything on the farm and one of everything my Uncle's had in their excavating business. Plus the usual pickups jeeps and cars. A new Tonka every Christmas and/or birthday!
