Used car dealer has a 2000 Ford 7.3 short box, 6 speed ex-cab with 116,000 miles 2 wd for $9500. I do not know to much about a Ford so I am asking if this is a deal or not. Needs a battterys and a parking brake cable, and some trim around the window to stop air flow. It is a tan color and tires are 50 per cent. 2WD bothers me for resale, but then on the other hand what the heck.

Sounds like a good deal. We have a 95 7.3 4 door that was going to show 400,000 a couple years ago but it went from 399,999 back to 300,000 and the next time it reached that mark it fell again. It is a two wheel dually five speed. We have another 95 7.3 with 285,000 and it is a two wheel extended flat bed pulls trailer every day in season. If you must pull a bumper hitch I like the dualls a lot better than the single wheel and if you have a gooose neck just load the load closer to the front. Mother's truck is a 2003 7.3 auto 4 door four wheel drive with a 170,000 on it and it is a happy truck as it likes to roll down the road. 2003 does well on fuel at 55mph it does good at 65 mph and at 75 it loves fuel well.

I have a 99 with 26,000 miles on it. They are noisey when cold and the front end is heavy. Not much traction in slippery condition because of the weight of the engine but they are great trailer haulers in dry conditions. Don't expect it to pull much when on wet grass. Mine is a long box with out 4 wheel drive. The 4 wheel drive would make a great deal of improvement. Its a must to keep the air filters clean. I will buy another when I get 300,000 on this one.

I have a 2000 F250 4 door long bed 2WD, would not trade it for nothing, love it, put about 500# in the bed, keep the fuel tank filled, and it will go where I want to go. If the roads get bad, I don't want to go there. LOL On serious side, check and find out what service history is. There is a recall on the camshaft position sensor, it will, if not already done, needs to be replaced. Find out if the fuel filter housing has been replaced, I was told that was a problem and would leak bad, I had mine replaced it did leak and leak a lot. Other than that it is a great truck, the only thing I did was I put wider tires on it, LT2857R16, with stock tires and a 12,000-14,000# load, it was a little "loose" in the rear, with the wider tires and about 60# of air in the tires, made it a whole lot more stabil.
Go for it, you will not regret it.

Just a bit "squirmy" under a gooseneck, but other than that there is still 200K miles in that truck.

Just did a little homework for you. It books at $14,415 in "excellent" condition. I dunno how much stock you put in Kelley Blue Book, but there you have it. Talk to your banker.

yeah, you'll never use the 4wd until a snow day.

I have a simple fix for that... throw about 800 pounds of firewood in the back, and you'll beat even the most tricked out Jeeps up a snowy hill.

SOunds like a rare truck. Take it.

Sounds quite fair to me. If it was 4 whl. drive you should buy it yesterday.
