I had a few worn out chickens, that were costing about 50.00 dollars a month, and producing only one egg a week. So off with their heads. No more chickens so I thought. One chicken appeared the next day. The hen must have seen what was happing, and found a good hiding spot. Should I let the chicken live after all she has witnessed? If she gets loose and goes to PETA I could be in serious trouble. Stan

Back her off feed for a week or so and then ramp it up a bit, she should get back on track. $50 a month??? What are you feeding them?

....make sure she is a happy, warm, well fed (and away from PETA)chicken for three days, after 3 days she will not remember. Chickens have a three day memory. lucky for you too, out your way PETA also has only a 3 day memory. I believe they have inherited it from the chickens. My sister runs a chicken orphanage, so if you need a home for it, I am quite sure she has room, although it is Christmas and she may be full up. Cal

I'll go with that one. Most places you wouldn't even have to feed one chicken for most of the year. I am all the time going to auctions and there is grain spilled everywhere but not one head of poultry in sight. A nice looking rooster and hen or a couple of Muscovies would be a heap better than the rats they obviously have based on the traps all over.
