Actually I live half way between Deer River and Grand Rapids. 5 miles north of Cohasset. The plow was only in the ground one day only to keep it from rolling down the hill. Scotty

Thanks for the neat pics. It's nice to look at pics of warm summer activities while I glance out the window at the white landscape.

The pic of the plow sitting there in the ground reminds me of something that happened in this community a few years ago. A farmer left a nine bottom plow in the ground all winter, with the tractor hooked to it because he had heard the plow wouldn't rust that way. If I remember right he was plowing late in the fall and the ground froze before he could finish. Realizing he was going to have wait to finish the job the next spring,he just shut it off part way across the field and left it sitting there to freeze in. The coffee shop was really a buzzin for awhile with stories about how the tractor blew the engine, or something to that order. I never did hear how badly it rusted, but I'll bet it was a bunch. Jim

I don't mean to upset you but if my Father saw that plow unhooked from the tractor and still in the ground, someone would be getting a trip out behind the woodshed for a whipping. Never, I repeat never leave the plow in the ground. I am 62 and have never left the plow in the ground and unhooked it. Thanks for the memories.

Never been around plowing much... could you explain why? Is it harmful to something or is it just a pride of ownership thing for the plow? Thanks.

moldboard plow bottoms rust up bad enough in just rain and air in the off season even if you oil/grease 'em up good. There'd be nothing left come plowin' time next year if you left 'em in the ground.

pretty pics. Love my 560, just don't run it much because mine aint diesel.

Great pictures! Thank you! I'm jealous of those kids on the rack. I might be the only young person who enjoyed baling hay and I miss it. That looks like some awfully dry soil you're flipping over, too. What did that field end up as? Hay again?

I have always enjoyed bailing hay. Trying to get my two boys to enjoy it also but we'll see. The field I plowed up is going into oats and alfalfa this spring. The field hasn't been plowed up since I can remember and I'm 32. Scotty Probably be like this picture of the one this spring.

Around Deer River? I go through Grand Rapids and Deer River to highway 46 when I go up to Northern MN. Nice area, but not much active farming at all from my memory. Nice to see a tractor still turning sod in that area!
