it's a 1949 John Deere A. i thank everyone for their advice in this matter. At least i have some ideas now because i'm getting sick of changing the oil 3-4 times a year. it could be the condensation too, for i live in michigan and it gets pretty hot during the day and colder at night (summertime, winter is just plain cold!!!)

Check the air cleaner stack, the baffels inside will break loose and let rain in thru there. I had a B and it never did this while I had it but after it was sold it started doing it, the new owner fastened a large juice can over the top of the stack and it stoped the water from entering. When it enters it goes thru the piston rings and if it does not all seep thru before you try to crank it you will have hydrolic lock and will not crank, take out a plug and it will blow the water out the plug hole.
