Want to get the slop out of the steering on this tractor. Trouble is how do you remove the pin in the steering box so you can turn the adjustment notched plate around. Tryed to knock it out but to no avail. Afraid I will break the cast housing if I hit it any more. Thanks

That pin you mention may be the stop to prevent the wheels from being turned too far to the left or right. What you must do is turn the wheels to the right, then clean out the grease in the box and you will find a slotted screw in the box, toward the front and just to the left of center. Remove this screw, then you will be able to rotate the eccentric bushing to tighten up the gear mesh. Then replace the screw. Pack with grease and drive it.

Boy, it's been a long time but I think that pin is a screw and you back it out with a screwdriver.
