Does anyone know if trailers carrying a small item in Ga. is botherd on the interstates. I want to send my trailer (16 foot, ball hitch, 5000lbs, to Fla to pick up a small steel smoker on twpo wheels. Will 3 chains be enough to satisfy. I hauls my M around this are in NC nd Ga. with the three chains and binders so far without a problem Thanks

you can run a small trailer as long as it is private down the interstate in Ga. and go by the scale houses if it is being pulled by a commercial vehicle you are supposed to go in the scale houses there they can pull surprise inspections. The requirements for a CDL are for trailers over 10,001 lbs. farm equipment get a pass on the weight and width laws that require permits if it is your equipment and not being hauled for hire. If you need some help getting it closer I may be able to help for a small fee.I got time off work due to weather so I could use some income to offset the time off work

I went up and down I-95 between florida and MD with two chains per tractor. No straps holding any rubber tired vehicle down.
