I continue to get a bill in the mail saying that I owe Ferrell gas $36 for a (tank rental fee or some crap) even though I cancelled the Ferrell gas service 3 months ago and they picked up their tank about 3 weeks after I made the cancellatiion. I already sent one letter saying "dont send this invoice, service has been cancelled, bla, bla, bla." I am no going to send a real nasty letter saying "I DONT OWE FERRELL GAS ONE DIME" with a few swear words in the letter to get my point across. Do you guys got any ideas how I should handle these bozos? This is really *issing me off.

The comapny I work for rents gas tanks from Midway. The newest delivery person is somewhat of a bozo and has been picking up tanks from Ferrell at other places, how we have no idea, but he is, and Ferrel sent us a bill for 42 tanks. Fiqure that one out!

Ferrell's upper management team has completely ruined that place. They are intentionally trying to run off business in many areas by overcharging by sometimes twice as much. Recently Ferrell had a purchase offer (don't remember by who), but it fell through.

I do know that Ferrell is not very active in pursuing overdue accounts...

Got rid of Ferrell gas in August. Charged me .40 more than the going rate last year. Tried to get tank rental because I didn't fill up more than once a year. Only have propane for fuel. They begged me to take the big tank years ago. Was supposed to call before fill up. That went away years ago. They closed two local offices I dealt with. Local FS guy wanted my business, new tank, pumped old gas in new tank N/c. I moved Ferrell's tank and called them. They found it within a couple of weeks no problem soooo far. Boy was that 1000 gal tank heavier than I thought. Glad I switched from all the reports on here. Ferrell Gas ought to hate this site.

Have the post master return the letter unclaimed. or you can stamp it deceased or no such address etc and put in the mail.

Got rid of them almost 2 years ago. They said they wouldn't pick up the tank for 3 weeks. (500 lb tank). I told them it was now empty and I wanted it gone NOW! They said 'we're sorry'. I said "you will be" I had sent them notice to cancel 4 weeks previously. So I told them I would move it to secure storage and bill them $5.00 per day storage. They said I couldn't move that tank. I said OK and hung up. Hooked on the tank with the backhoe and moved it down in the field below the house and spray painted a target on the side over their Ferrellgas emblem. Took a digital picture of it and e-mailed a picture of it to their office along with a short note of how much I would like the tank to disappear. The tank disappeared the next morning and I have not heard from them since.

I sent them packing a year ago August, so I thought. I prepaid with the local guy and told Ferrell that I no longer needed their services.

Came home one day with a ticket in the door from Ferrell where they had filled me up. The rate was way above prepay.

I told them to come get their gas, I had prepaid all that I needed. They said they would have someone out in two weeks. Time passes, nobody comes for the gas. Bill comes from Ferrell that says I am 30 days past due. Called the "Customer (no) Service" number and explained the problem. They promised to come get the gas in two weeks. Same thing no pickup with another bill, noq 60 days past. Called No Service again. Talked to the supervisor, he finally cut me a deal on the gas in the barrell.

Seems like it was a crap ploy to sell gas.

I put a lock on the barrell after that. The local guy calls me when he plans to come out and I unlock the barrell.

Ferrell is like gum on your shoe - Real hard to get rid of.

The park system I have used them. We switched to natural gas this summer. they have picked up 3 of the 4 tanks...(they must have forgot about the 4th). They charged the park for the gas left in the tank because they had to pump it out. And of course they just turned around and resold the gas.

I got one better, ferrel gas is sending me a bill for $6. After I switched to our local co-op I called ferrel gas and told them to get there tank which at that time asked if I would like to buy the tank(its starting to rust and paint falling off)week later they call back told me they would not sell the tank and they would try to have it out in a month or two. I told them that they had two weeks or I would charge them storage at $35 a week. They told me they would put a rush on it. Two weeks have gone by tank still sitting in front yard. Oh the $6 bill, they claim if it was under $5 they could waive it. I said yeh if it was $11 you would tell me if it was under $10 you could waive it. I could go on and on since I was stupid to be with them for 10 years. never was happy with the company And I would advise NOBODY ever use them.

I know its tempting but I'd suggest not sending them that letter. If it happens to irritate the person who gets it they may just decide to make you their 'collection example'. After all, companies like that probably have lawyers on retainer. I'd sure hate to have to explain that letter in front of a judge.

I had a similar thing happen with then a few years ago. They hit me up for some extra when I had them take their tank. Sent them a nice letter back which stated very clearly that 1. disputing the charge (copied the wording off the dispute section of a credit card bill) 2. I wanted to see where I had signed any agreement, receipt, or contract that showed I owed them the money (I'd never signed anything, tank was there when I bought the house and was a carry over from some other company they bought). 3. Why they hadnt paid me back for the gas that was in the tank when they came and got it. 4. If they really wanted to sue me over ever how much it was (50 bucks I think) then this was the attorney's name and address who I normally used and to please serve him with the papers when they got ready to litigate it out. Never heard a word back from them.

I had Ferrell-gas also and I got rid of them a year ago. I was getting tired of them billing me with some kind tax for the delivery of gas or rising their prices every time they wanted too.
And yes they were always billing me for tank rental too in the amount of $36.00. I never had to pay tank rental before. It was in their contract if you use so many gallons in one year’s time the rental was free.

After switching companies I called them number of times to get their tank out of my yard. I placed one more call and told the lady if they didn’t get their tank within a week that I was going to charge them tank rental. I was amazed they pick it up the next day.
I was to be reimburse for the amount left in the tank but never did heard from them again.
Anyways I’m not sure what there problem was but switching was the best thing I done. It was a huge savings for me - 0.80 cents a gallon cheaper with no tank rental and much better service!!!!…. Ferrell-gas tank had a broken fitting at the shut off valve the other company person showed it to me and said you have been leaking gas long period time now. I guess that explains why I always had problems with wasps every summer? I know in my area everyone that had Ferrell gas has switch to someone else so if that tells you something there. (P.S. I’m glad I switched!) Mike

Ive never said anything about Ferrell before now.

Here in our area they price gas all over the board. Those that never complain may pay 75 cents a gallon more than the next door neighbor who complain or found it cheaper.

They buy existing companies and run the customer base into the ground and make money on the ones that stay by charging over priced gas.
When the customers in an area won't support the staff they sell and move on to the next.

Our local coop was going to buy a local private gas retailer 3 years ago. We backed out and Ferrell bought it. The private had 4000 customers.

When Ferrell took over they had 4 delivery trucks in the area. They are down to 2 and we had to add one.

In the last 3 years the local coop picked up 750 new customers that were Ferrell. Other companies have picked up a lot of the Ferrell customers also.

We always joke that we are glad we did not buy the company cause we are getting the company one tank at a time. With no blue sky to buy.

Gary

If companies are offering you a smaller price the only thing you have to do is let Ferrell or any other place for that matter know a competitor has offered you a smaller ppg fee and 100% of time they lower it to keep you as a customer, and for all you who pay tank rent maybe its because you DONT use propane. You cant have a tank out there for three years thats been filled up once or twice! Ive worked in propane before and its extremely complicating thing because every customer is different in some ways with there plans and prices. Also buy a contract with them at a fixed price so it doesn't raise during the winter. Just gotta learn the trade to get the best price and service.

About a year ago, we cancelled getting No. 2 home fuel from a company here in MD. The contract was to fill up after 3 months of usage. However, their service got ridiculous with their fat repairmen.

A month after we cancelled, a truck sneaked in our driveway about 6 in the morning and put in 185 gallons of fuel in the tank. We never knew about it until a week later, when we got a bill for $465.89, from THEM...

Unfortunately, I paid the bill as a bribe to get them out of my hair, and I had to be in Las Vegas for a month.
