Anyone ever think about putting quick connects on your equipment's cooling systems, heater hoses, etc. so you could plug a running vehicle up to one that's too cold to start? Seems like you could circulate hot coolant through the cold machine and thus get er going easier.

The loggers do it all the time in northern Minnesota. They have couplers on the pickup and on the skidder (Diesel) that is left in the woods overnight.

Isn't that a problem w/ the newer pickups since they have the X-life antifreeze?

back 10-15 years ago, alot of the dozer/loggers even down in Northern MO had those plumbed into their pickups, but not so much any more w/ the newer motors.

That setup with the coolant hoses works well in northern mn. also. We' were doing this up until about two years ago. Then we switched over to the small programable heaters that run on diesel fuel. Jim WJ

Only way to start Logging Equipment here in MN. Works good. I have heard concern about cracking the heads or blocks of pickup motors due to the cold anti-freeze from the machine coming into contact with the hot pick-up motor, but I don't know of anyone who has actually had a problem.

we have just about all our construction Eq set up with quick heats safer then propane heaters takes about 20 minn. to heat up a big Cummings all my pickups have plug ins and all my loaders sit out side all over the place for snow removal in the winter so we can't use propane heaters because people steel the tanks

That method of pre heating is common here in Michigans UP, Skidders and other logging equipment left in the woods over night crank right up!
