All things come around.

'Bout 20 or 30 years ago when I was working for Mother GM, I had bought a heavy duty air chisel from Snap-On to handle the occasional ball-joint job.

Remember the darned thing cost something like $52, which was a slug of money to me back then. Cussed myself for a long time because I had spent so much on a tool that was rarely used.

Problem: Manual crank jab frozen in the front bolster. Been soakin' for a week and it just wouldn't break free no matter what I tried.

That old chisel paid for itself this morning and made short work of it. :>)

Allens key word was rarely used. Will last a life time in the tool box.

I have never had a snap on air tool hold up,,, said 15 years ago I would never buy anutter air tool from'em,,, well fell off the wagon and brought a air chisel from a dealer going out of business,,, $200 haft price,,, it broke No warranty,,, gonna cost me $100 to git a new tool fixed,,, been sent off for repair,,, 6 weeks and counting,,, sucker ain't I,,, will say that mutter did hit when it werked,,, I figger it cost me $30 every time i used it,,, I am back to my worn out IR,,, aint missed a lick,,, came out of retirement takes on all comers

Nothing like some good vibrations to loosen things up, be it from an air chisel or impact gun on bolts.

I had to use the air chisel to get the head off my W-9 when it cracked... Had the tractor jacked up in the air with the chain hoist pulling on the head! Two minutes of air chisel and it popped off.

Darned thing never did loosen up.

Finally, I just gave up and chopped off the protusion with that chisel.

It's still frozen as we speak, but it isn't in my way anymore either. :>)

know what you mean. my 1/2 drive impact is about ready to give up the ghost. been looking at replacements. gonna go with a snap on this time. gonna get the bad boy one,xt7100, 700ftlbs. somewhere around 400 or so. my blue point 1/4 drive air rachet is about had it too.

Glennster, You might look at an Ingersol impact, I have had one for about 12 years now that, I bought used, been very happy with it. But is gets a dose of oil once in a while also.

we've got ingersol, matco, and a blue point 1/2 inch at the shop, but we are doing more and more hd and super duty stuff, and i need the oomph. 3/4 drive is too dang heavy and too bulky for doing suspension work on the frame rack, so i'm gonna go with the snap on. its a lot of doe, but its got power hands down.

glen- The Snap-on 7100 won"t hold a candle to the IR 2135TI. The IR is lighter, much more reliable, more powerfull, and very easy to work on. It"s also less money, and if you get it with Matco"s name on it (MT1769), it"s got a two year warranty. I don"t know much about a lot of things, but tools are my business, so trust me. I can"t guess how many Snap-on high-dollar impacts get traded in to me, and they"re a pain to resale at any price. IR"s got the corner on the market, and has for years. Save some money, and get the IR.

Putting on a dedicated power steering pump (never done this before) and the pulley had to slide over the front of that crankshaft.

Normally, if the jab was retracted as it should be, it would have slid right in there.

But, as it was, I had to force the issue a little to make room. :>(
