Did anyone that is on yahoo see the guy from wisconsin with the 1991 Chevy Silverado he turned over 1 million miles on it? They said the oil plug had to be rethreaded sevral times, helicoil I think. He had over 300 oil changes. Did he have to do anything with the trans? I didnt see anything on that or front end components. I NEVER get that lucky, usually about 200,000 mile mark I get rid of them and get another, and NEVER buy new. What is the most miles you got out of a truck?

I have a 97 Dodge Ram 4x4 , 5 spd 318 with 240,000 miles on it. Did put in a new fuel pump in tank about week ago. That was costly.. like $388.00 for labor and pump. Truck has an exhaust value that is burn't some. Can hear it when I start motor. But not an oil burner like one would think with that many miles.

I have a 1998 Siverado C3500 dually that still doesn't have 40,000 miles on it. I bought it a couple of years ago with only 23,000 on it.

I filled the tank today (gauge was at 1/2) and when I entered the info in my little logbook in the glove box, I noticed the last time I gassed up was 11/26/07. Maybe I should drive it more?

My dad had an 84 F-350 crewcab with a 460 and C-6 in it. It had in 3 engines and 3 transmissions. Each had basically 300K on each with nothing wrong when they overhauled them. The original block had 600K on it. In the end the truck had 890,000 on when he sold it and it still looked in real good shape. He hauled campers from the factory all across the U.S. Good thing he doesn'thave that today at 4 mpg loaded. His buddy had an 88 Ford with a 7.3 diesel that had 750K on the original engine, and around a million on the transmission. The truck last I knew had over a million miles on it.

My dad had a 1968 (or so) Plymouth Fury 2 door, he sold it back in 1972 to a woman who drove it until a few years ago, it had over 800,000 miles on it.

I thought the Ford E250 van with a million miles and the ORIGINAL nonrebuilt transmission and engine that had never had the heads pulled was much more impressive. Especially given the fact that the early 5.4 V8s were/are not all that highly thought of.

My favorite husband left out our 1986 Dodge Ram Charger (suv type vehicle). Unknown mileage. It had 86,000+ when I bought it more than 10 yrs ago. Still runs, but very fickle. Paint is hurting, body is good - no dents, 360 small block, several carb rebuilds, brakes, water pump, radiator, tranny, power brake motor, exhaust system, a/c, uses a little oil, drivers' seat cloth came apart years ago. Retired it in 2000 when I bought my dog of a Chevy. Can't run the old Dodge down too much, in 96 the big Dodge stranded me and my horse in Wells, Ok. The Ram Charger was all we had. My favorite hubby drove 5 hrs from Dallas to get me. Wrecker picked up the 1 ton and left me, trailer & horse in a McDonald's parking lot until he got there at 1:00 in the morning. The little truck hauled me and my very large 2 horse (equal to a 4 horse stock) through the Oklahoma Arbuckle mountains and back to Dallas. I wouldn't want to ask it to do that today.
P.S. Once we got a few kinks worked out of the 1 ton Dodge diesel, it has been one b*** kicker of a hauling truck and good mileage to boot.

96 Dodge 1500 4x4, 5.9 Gas 309,000. Trans rebuilt at 80K. Always syn oil with changes every 5k. Used as a truck, would scare a lot of guys with 1tons; but, recognized when I was stretching designed capabilities and treated kindly when doing so.

It is retired and back home on the farm.

I have driven this truck to h*** and back.

How many miles is that?

My 1948 GMC 3/4 ton is sitting in the yard with 517,000 miles on it. It came into the family in 1958 with 110,000 miles on it and was already rough. It has a 1-ton rear end and springs, no shocks. The rest of the story is it started with a 248, replaced that with a 216, replaced that with a 235 (that went 396,000) and now has another 235. Replaced king pins, brakes, brake cylinders, rear fenders, 3 paint jobs, body looks like a refugee from a demo derby, upholstery is non-existant, but it will haul anything you put on it anywhere you want to go, and do it at 55 or 60 MPH, except hills. Yes, it rides like a hard-tired lumber wagon.

I had a '76 Chevy 3/4 ton 2wd that had 358,000 on it. It was on it's fourth engine and 3rd transmission. You could drive down washboard gravel roads and there was not one single rattle or squeak in it.

I redid the body and painted it, and by the time I got done, the cab shell and hood were the only things original on the body. I finally sold it to a guy who was driving a Ford with over 400,000 on it.

A buddy of mine recently sold an '88 Chevy 1500 with 418,000 miles on it. His mother-in-law is a city lady from Chicago, and to her and her crowd when a vehicle gets around 40,000 miles on it, it's junk and needs to be traded in.

She freaked out the first time she came out here and saw us driving vehicles with a couple hundred thousand miles and not thinking anything of it.

This is what I read,
The truck has seen four radiators, three gas tanks, five transmissions and six water pumps, Mr. Oresnik has never had to recondition the engine itself — crediting his routine maintenance schedule and a little luck.

92 chev 3/4 ton 454 automatic. Went 340,000 tough miles until tranny finally gave out. Engine still runs decent but is getting a little weak.

U joints, four radiators and a ton of waterpumps is about all that was done to it. Jim

My brother had a 350 chevvy suburben with over 500 thousand miles when he sold it. The heads and pan were never off. Valve cover gaskets and timing gears and chain were changed more than once. I forgot what year , early 90's I think. The 700R4 tranny was never out but had many oil and filter changes.

I have always had chevys and very good luck with them. My wife on the other hand fell in love w/ this new little ford ranger, we test drove it and she purchased it. While finishing the final paperwork a cement truck veered off the road to avoid an accident and smashed into the ranger totalling it. Total miles on the ranger, less than 5. She ended up with a slightly used S-10 that day w/ 10,000 miles on it. I guess I should just stick to chevy's.

Local body man has a 1988 Chevy 1500 2wd with a 350 in it. It has 600K + km's on it, so about what 400k miles? He has never touched the engine or tranny until last month, he got an oil leak and didn't bother to check the oil and spun a bearing. Dropped a 300k km motor in to replace it.
