For the Continental engines looking for a history type web site. Mostly the same for early Perkins engines. Anybody know? Thanks in advance.

Here's a web site that may help. We tested all those vehicles with that 1790 cid engine. The M47, M48 and the M88 Recovery vehicle. Hal

I don't know about web sites, but in storage I have a hard back book on Continental Engine history. I don't recall the exact title though. google, amazon, or abebooks might come up with it. The book has been in my family a decade or two.

In the searching I"ve done (not really exhaustive, I"ll admit) I haven"t found anything comprehensive for any of the engine builders (Buda, Cont, Herc etc) that gives a decent rundown on their various engines and the bare basics (b/s or cid, when introduced, recommended usage-truck, tractor, ind, ag etc). If your Cont book has such info, I"d appreciate the title/pub date if you ever dig it out. Bud pitybud@msn.com

Here's one I found using the Iowa Union Catalog. Seems like it might be the one I have. You might find it through interlibrary loan.

Going to Worldcat at OCLC, it says 112 libraries have the book. Your local library interlibrary loan department can search by ISBN or OCLC number to come up with it on loan.

Searching ABEBOOKS at www.abebooks.com they show 6 book sellers have it forsale from $23.45 to $60

Continental made engines for practically everything that used an ending from stationary generators (I have one) to tractors (I have one) to trucks, tanks, cars, and aircraft. Some WW2 tank engines were radial like aircraft and post war tank engine parts sometimes flew though the parts weren't FAA approved. Germany made a kit to fit stolen Continental tank engines into German tanks. Some engines like the Y-91 I have in my generator also powered tractors and milk trucks.
