I have not yet been able to verify what I heard on WGEM radio out of Quincy, IL, but it seems there is legislation that would make any of our diesel tractors illegal if they cannot pass emission standards. As mentioned on WGEM, would put most small farmers out of business, as cannot afford to get brand new tractors that are in compliance. Anyone able to get any more info? Thanks, DOUG

Are you sure it wasn't Colorado rather than Illinois? They just defeated a bill in Colorado that would require a $25/hp yearly payment on any tractor that didn't meet Tier II emissions. that would be anythng built before approximately 2000.

The vehicle emission testing yearly is a pain and doesn't amount to much so vehicles 1995 and back don't have to be tested in the seven county and E. St Louis area in IL. SOOOO trt testing is a stretch. Now the summer blend gas is used in these area to reduce emissions. Truth is less MPG on the this blend so more fuel is used. The Gov of Il feet is being held to the fire on the Rasko case. The way gov Rayns feet were and now in a fed pen in IN. The gov of NY had another part being held so life goes on. He can thank the bankers for his thing. All 5 grand movements are reported per the terrors act. Dust off the book (1984) I read in the 60's! Trts don't have titles so who knows who has what?

Granted, we've got some real idiots running the show here, but I don't think anyone is that stupid. Why don't we just get rid of Chicago and let Wisconsin and Indiana fight over it?

But, I would feel sorry for the people of Wisconsin and Indiana. Why don't we try to get Cook county and some of the surrounding counties a statehood, they can become their own little 51st state! You need to follow these "idiots" a little closer, I think about 90% of them are that stupid. Most of the BS coming out down here??? Most don't have enough common sense to fill a thimble.

The fuel man from FS in Spfld said it's all the same fuel off road is just died , but as bad as the ecomony is there is no way a farmer can afford to buy newer equip . Besides they could not produce tractors fast enough to start with if this law would pass

The local FS man is still getting the old fuel for off-road (dyed) use. Apparently they still deliver it by barge to the local terminal.

I couldn't find what you were talking about persay, after going to Illinois EPA site (said was moved), and under Illinois Farm Bureau's site, although I did find under IFB a referrence to a proposed law SB 268 with regards to diesel fuel, and other referrences to that online, tying it to include AG use, but not much on it specifically.

If you can find something on it and post it, I'm sure would be appreciated by many or all. That kind of stuff spreads from one state to another like cancer. When politicians get involved in "trying to do the right thing", one thing leads to another, and the next thing you know all refridgerators have to be combination part time washing machines and dryers...and toilets. Know what I mean? Thanks.

WGEM.com

I did a search of their website and could only find where they were talking about a Voltswagon and emmissions. Efficiency on the diesel bug is around 50 mpg. Pretty good, for a bug. But couldn't find anything about farm diesel. Not many guys gonna drag out the testors to the middle of a field.

I would hope that the new legislation would only apply to equipment built some time after it became law. When emission standards change for cars and trucks it doesn't make all the old ones illegal.
