Does anyone know how much the backhoe of the Ford 3400 light industrial tractor can lift? I have been told it is 2800 lbs. Could I get by lifting 3100 (the weight of one of the pallets of a steel building that is being delivered soon to my land)?

Go ahead with it. That loader will lift a lot more than 3100 lbs. Don't have spec's in front of me but I used to sell them in the 70's. It should lift 5000 lbs. easily.

There is a thread on the forum just for you. 6th thread below this one. As B&D said, reach is important too. You don't know what the consequences of your post might be. But there again, it will not be killing or injuring you.

Safe weight needs to be stated with how far infront of the bucket hinge pins the centerline of the load is.
So if the load is dangling out 6 ft infront of the bucket, max weight maybe 1500lbs.

You wrote: I have been told it is 2800 lbs.

Then you come on here and ask if it is safe to exceed that amount? If that is the safe limit, anyone here advocating you exceed that limit would be clearly attracting litigation in the event of a mishap.

I suggest you actually confirm the information above or find the real limit and act accordingly.

Be safe. Unpack the pallet after it has been delivered and make sure it is tranported without danger.
