Summer is coming for us, and I can't keep the AC on our cab tractor charged up. The thing is baking me in the summer. Has anyone got any quick fixes for this or should I bite the bullet? I'm hoping to redo this tractor just as soon as I can, and would like to solve this problem. All opinions are welcome. Thanks.

Problem with the stopleak is most people put in too much. They expect it to seal instantly and it doesn't so they add more till they plug up the system. It usually takes a couple of days for small leaks and a couple of weeks for a large leak. My current truck took 2-1/2 weeks to stop the leak. It would leak out 2 cans of 134 in a week. I put in 1 can of stopleak. first refill I had to add a can of 134 in a week, then was another week and a half for the next can, been working good ever since. That was last July, just used the AC today and it still works.

you're gonna need to find the leak to fix it. if you dont have a sniffer for freon, next best thing is to get a dye kit , napa sells em 30-40 dollars, has a black lite and a pair of shaded glasses. you add dye to the ac system, charge it let it run for a while, then go over the whole system with the light and glasses, when you see the dye glowing, you found the leak!!! you prolly running r 134 correct? if its a conversion from r12, did you add the esther oil when you charged it?

Try a Massey 399. Fairly good tractor, little light for my needs, hoping budget will streach for another tractor, but in the meantime, this ha got to be fixed, fixed good, and fixed as near to right as possible, Had a new compresser 2 years ago and tractor has only had 250 hours put on it since then. Tractor is somewhat aggravating due to the fact it isn't used as intended, but has some semential value. I grew up with this tractor, but I've aged better LOL. Currently suffering from low budgetitis, and any cheap tricks are needed.

A/I parts can be ordered and usually the price is right. Somebody somewhere is thinking about suggesting filling the system with propane. Don"t do it.

i do quite a bit of a/c work i have some tractor old ones i work on and eveyyear i go by give them a quick charge that all the guys want. now if you want it to stay charger you well most likly have to replace all the hoes, fittings o-rings and compresser. sorta like complete reto fit. thats on older modles. new modles. one thing i have found is to hook my air compress to the system pressure it up bottle soapy water and trace the line to find the leak. i have use that bubble soap the kids ues it makes good bubbles. if it is a jd with sound gard it probley in the low pressure line coming down the corner of the cab. the one with the foam insulation sure keeps them wet good for rust. on the ih tractor same thing on the medal lines.

I dont agree with the leak stopper. I have used them for years. In My truck the hose from the ffront to back leaks a little every year and I used the rubber leaks repair and it has held now for four years. There is a metal sealer and also a rubber sealer and their is one that is both. If you have time use a simple soap solution to find the leak Jack
