About like we need a hole in the head. Here in Ar. I always try to have my corn in the ground by the 3rd week of March. I still dont even have all the ground broke. It just will not stop rainning. We are having flooding every week. Yesterday the water was up on the headlights of my ford superduty just trying to get home on my county rd. More heavy rain today.

DF in WI- I'm right there with you.... just a few miles to the south. We keep getting stuck in this soup trying to feed hay. Old man had to pull the 4020 out with the 3020 today; we're running out of open lanes. The 6-7 inches of snow or whatever they're talking for tonight should make it a real blast. That 70 degrees can't come soon enough!

yeah last week i got my 4020 stuck with a full load of manure. boy was that a mess. sunk 'er down past thedrawbar. so i unloaded the load and got another 30 feet and sunk again. hadda et the old JD 350 Crawler out to pull that out. that was that lst snow we had. i think by the time i was done getting that stuck, the ruts were about 18-24 inches deep. hadda start ANOTHER manure pile.. just lookd out the window and it was sleeting! YUCK YUCK YUCK!!!!
at least i don't have to go to town tomorow i guess

well around western wisconsin we are getting pounded by snow repetidly and it melts the next day. THEn within a week it snows again. right now i'm getting pounded with snow. but the bright side is it's supposed to be 70 degrees on monday :) i feel the same way. usually i have my barley in the ground by now. i have a feeling all my corn might not make it in the ground until the last weeks of may!
...and the struggle goes on....

Yep know what you mean. Its so wet here you could probably pour gas on something and it would not even light up. If it gets much worse I'll have to build my self a helo just to go to town.

We nee drain here in fl.. went a couple years without enough.. but... it always rains late.. I wish it would rain early while i am at work.. so that when i get home I can actually do a few things on the farm.. but NOOO>> it is bright and sunny while I drive the desk.. as soon as I get home.. it drips enough to prevent me from getting some meaningfull work done..

Plenty of rain in Dallas and in E. Tx. Wish we could send you some or save some for late July & August. We went through 2 years of bad drought in 05 & 06 so we understand.

Here in central IL we are just now entering the prime corn planting window and nothing is going to happen for awhile. It has been wet all spring. Over the weekend there was some limited amount of work done. I saw guys putting on NH3 and I have heard of oats being sowed. I have not seen anyone doing tillage or trying to plant. The conditions were marginal but improving untill it rained about an inch tuesday. It is raining now and they are calling for heavy rain all day today. The forecast is a chance of rain fri, sat, and sunday with cold temps. Even if it was dry the soil temp was only 42 monday when I checked and I'm sure it will drop. I would like to have started planting corn first of next week but that will not happen now and I wont even guess when I might get the chance. At least in my part of the world, corn planting will be delayed. bill

I was just reading yesterday that in the corn belt, I think they primarily were referring to Iowa and Illinois, they said that every day you wait to plant after May 15th will cost you a bushel per acre in yield.

On my hay crop, I usually plant with the full moon in April. That's next week. My fields are mud and will be for awhile. I am looking at the full moon in May now which will be 17-18 May per the Farmer's almanac. By planting later I may be able to harvest the first cutting and get it cured this time. Guess the neighbors will just have to listen to my tractor on Sunday morning, May 18 as there is only a 2 day window for hay planting.

Its still raining here also. Not a lot of rain like you, but constant.

Most years we are getting a good start by now on tillage and fertilizer application but nothing here this year.

Apr 15 or so some start planting here, ain't gonna happen this year.

Oh well like they say April showers bring May flowers.
