I saw the thread below, and wonder how the price is determined? Wheat prices opened our eyes. We have seen what a scam the Board of Trade is for determining the actual price farmers receive for corn and soybeans, and there's no correlation at all in pricing oats. Livestock lives in it's own world altogether to determine prices received.

Peanuts are priced in tons. Divided into 4 classes, Spanish, runner, Virginia, and valencia peanuts. Current price runners around $500 a ton, don't have the paper right in front of me. Virginias and Spanish are between $50 and $100 higher. Our area is runner peanuts average two tons an acre. Valencias are the boiling peanut for market. Need any more answers I'll check back in tonight.

According to the national news. There seems to be riots over food happening all over. They say there is a shortage of rice to go around and money is tight.
I look for the rice to go up in price myself. Cauese the goverments are going to have to buy to keep things calm to keep their control of power. Now the farm report said this week on tv that they expect corn to drop late in fall because of supply and demand and that there will be an over stock of corn. ... Should this happen I myself don't really know any more then what they are saying.
One thing that was mention by them was something called. Metric Tax ??? What is this? any one know what they were talking about??? Thanks

Ultimately in our system its supply and demand that determines prices despite all the Conspiracy Theories to the contary.

Rice is priced on the board of trade in hundred weights, altho locally it is converted to bushels. Some areas refer to it in barrels someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think a barrel is 162 bushels. Don't know nothin bout peanuts.
