I would guess state laws probably make a differance on my rant here, or at least I hope so. Please understand that some of my rant is from many years ago.I have played the games many times with insurance companies, and most often when push comes to shove, you get it shoved. Any one care to guess on a few other things they think are insured for? If you back into your own car garage door you better live in TOWN or my bet is you are not insured. Farmers, Would you care to bet if you think you are? If you do not have replacment cost on your household items you just are probably in for a big suprise. Get it.. it's the cheapest insurance you can buy. My pickup truck years ago--many many years ago was listed as AG related, then I decided I best go to a comercial policy because of my construction business was the main bread winner. I later found out that any time I hooked on to ANY TRAILER other than a boat or snowmobile trailer.. GET THIS once I hooked up it VOIDED any insurance on my truck unless I called the insurance company. Those coverages have since changed. My comercial policy insured my truck only! Add a snow plow--need another article. Add a topper, I again need another article. If I do not have a inland marine policy on my tools, they should never leave my place of address. Move a insured tractor collection to a different location, or toy tractor collection to another adress while I remodeled part of the house----no insurance again. Rent a neighbors tractor some day? Guess what can happen? Another farmer put his tractor in the haymow of his barn--a very common thing years ago. Insurance company said tractors are only insured in a machine shed--barns are for cows. Farmer drops his tractor front end into a ditch in his corn field, broke the front end off his tractor. His policy was for road related problems only untill it went to court. Very unusual circumstances in my family. I was required to keep health insurance on my two sons when we divorced. my ex remaried a RR man and it cost only the ink on the paper to insure both of them. My second wife gets a job that has free health insurance, and for $7.00 per month we could add dental on the whole family. The boys were also covered by the same policy--no cost. My son broke his leg and no one would cover it as the other company was supposed to be primary....on and on and on. Big surprise! once one pays, I figured the next one would cover the deductable, and the third one sure as heck would otherwise. WRONG---I must pay any deductable. Put a insured tractor in a antique days show---better check that one also guys and gals. Come to think of it, a post of insurance company loop holes would be a very informative post! Any for crying out loud NEVER call a insurance company and say something happened and AM I INSURED? You say rather---A person I know had this or that happen.....If it happened to me would I have coverage. OTHERWISE if you ask you can be canceled because you are a high risk. Once you determine you do have insurance, better consider paying higher rates for a long time.. Give me a break, you think they don't have their butts covered in all that fine print?
