Anybody have an idea what hay will go for in small squares this year? I would assume it would be higher again this year, but probably not as high as last year. Is there any price forecasts out there? I'm guessing that a lot of fields down south will still be suffering from last year's drought, and maybe a lot of field elsewhere will be in corn and beans. Am I anywhere near the mark? Just doing some long range speculation, the kids ain't gonna go hungry or anything.

The amount of rain don't matter. Most backyard horse lots are bare of any grass. Supply has nothing to do with weather the horse needs to eat or not. This year I'm not going to sell anything untill after Christmas, and, the price will be $7.50 a bale.Or,what ever the market will bare.

I've got small squares of prairie hay in the barn I'd still sell for $5.25 a bale. If we have as much rain this year as last year here in Okla, there will be another abundance of hay.

Reports of small squares selling for $5 to $7 at the nearby stock auction, here in central Michigan. Had a guy call asking for price, told him I had some nice grass hay for $5, said he'd call around. Haven't heard back! think I'll hang on to it anyway. Still nice and green, Should look nice yet next selling season.

I'm not budging off last years drought price, not with fuel and fertilizer doing what it has. I already contracted some '08 crop too cheap, back in January before diesel went crazy.

I just bought some grass hay for $5 a bale. Looks like some of the hayfields around here are now cornfields.

I'm in the South, it's still dry. I have a small field of oats that are going to be short and if I get them in squares I will ask $5.00 per bale.

Currently in NY, good second cutting if it can be found, $250/T. first, $200. With hay ground being plowed under for grains I don't see the supply side going up.

I sold 900 # round bales of grass hay for $140/T fob the stack in February and can"t see any reason why it won"t be more with the new crop. All the inputs have gone up drastically.
