I am looking at getting a new 18ft trailer to haul my tractor and other things on. I can"t decide between a Corn Pro and a Gatormade trailer. The Gatormade trailer is made in Somerset KY. Anyone have any experience in either one.
Looking at the two 5400 pound axles trailer.

Thanks,

LBH

Hi, a friend had a corn pro, He liked it and it looked good. I'm on my 6th trailer its a PJ. I like it,but whatever you decide on ask how much extra it would cost to special order one primed. I havn't seen one yet with any primer under the paint.

Corn pro is the trailer that i would suggest that was the only trailer i bought for years until i came to south carolina and found the closest dealer was the one i used to deal with about twelve hours away. The corn pro is your best great warranty and customer service. the other trailer i would recommend would be a PJ trailer they are powder coated like Corn pros. So definetly go with the corn pro that is what i would do hands down

I'd look into getting one with torque flex axles as they have no springs and shakles to go bad and they can sit lower too. We bought a corn pro gooseneck many years ago and liked their design especially that bevertail that can become a flat bed. We did notice some funny wear on the tires and found out it wasn't built squarely as they had the axles off some. We could measure this with a tape from the hitch center to each wheel. I'd double check any new trailer now before I bought it ! We noticed it wat too late for them to warranty it so had the local alignment shop true it up.

I'm in the same boat. I am looking at a little smaller trailer though. I am also considering jerry james in sikeston, mo and Big Tex through a retailer here in Indiana.

I'm leaning towards jerry james because a buddy wants me to piggy back a trailer for him, which would help with the fuel costs.

Plus they will apparently build them to suit. The downside is, I would have to put my own lighting on.

I'm wanting a flatbed, no upper rails with 16 feet of deck and 2 feet of dovetail with slide out ramps, trailer brakes on both axles and a rub rail all the way around. Let's see, 3500 lbs axles will work for me and new wheels and tires. Oh, and I want the treated deck rather than the plain pine. It will need fenders and the frame all the way back to them with a 2 5/16 ball receiver and a set back jack. That ought to do it.

I have a gator made trailer on my ebay watch list, though. I haven't called to see what it would cost to have one made like I want. Somerset is a lot closer to me then Sikeston.

Steve

I got crossways with Big Tex when I was shopping for a horse trailer. They priced a 4 horse slant, with 8 ft dressing room - no amenities, what we call a "beer can" at $44,000. I bought a Mustang Elite, 3 horse slant, 4ft dressing room, very good quality, 100% aluminum trailer for $16,400. I don't think they wanted my business since I showed up in my work clothes. I could have purchased a 3 horse slant Elite with living quarters for $23,000 so don't know where they came up with the $44,000 for a stripped down trailer. I've never been back.
