I renegotiating my haybaling deal with the people I bale for. I'm proposing 2/3 for me and 1/3 profit for them. The cost of gas, twine, fertilizer, seed, barn rental, etc. will be split along those lines. I will do all the labor and sales, and pay for repairs and maint. to my equip. They will pay taxes on the land (which is very small) I will get all monies from any delivery charges, which I will do also. These are good people I bale for and neighbors, just want to make sure this is fair for both of us. I way under charged last year, but it was the first year I baled on a big scale. Opinions?

Some landowners around here get 1/4 of the hay, hauled to their barn and stacked if squares, and placed in rows at edge if field if large round bales. The landowner does not participate in any of the expenses or labor. Person leasing the field put down fertlize, cuts, rakes, bales, stacks. In other cases landowner fertlizes and maintains field. Person leasing cuts, rakes, bales, hauls as above, and hay gets split 1/2 and 1/2. This is termed locally as "baling on the halves".

Last year my neighbor made the first cutting on our hay meadow.

He got half and we got half.

He gets 100% of all he cuts and bales anywhere else on the farm.

Win/Win for both of us. He gets the hay and I don't have to mow.

I will give him the other half of last year's first cutting hay because we did not feed it.

Our families have been neighbors for over 70 years and have always helped each other.
