Came home at 6:30 AM from a 12 hour shift at work.Called the neighbor to conferm that I was to use his drill. He told me he would be in the yard in a hour and a half. That give me plenty of time to run to town and pick up the soybean seed.It was 10:03 when I hit the fild. When It was all over and the drill was back in the shed at the neighbors it was 6:30 PM.Took a shower eat a sandwitch and went to bed at 7:30.Slept for 11 hours. It was rainning when I got up this morning.Got the beans in the ground just in time.

Sunday, Monday long days. Went to the farm this w/e as usual. Also, took Mon & Tues off from our "paying jobs". Sat went to look at an early JD 70 gas and bought it. Sunday went to the hayfield and wanted to cry. We had a bumper crop of Carolina horse nettle in the north half (approx. 4 acres). This is a tough weed to permanently eradicate. Went back to the shop and got my spraying stuff. It has to be spot sprayed as the chemical will burn, but not kill, the coastal. Spent 5 hrs Sunday and 7 or 8 Mon walking and spraying using a 2 gal hand sprayer which weighs about 18lbs when full. Started again Tues, but here came the rain. Everything I did Tues was washed away and not sure about what got sprayed late Mon. Used 30 gals of spray. I was beat. This Sat, I'll be back in the hayfield spraying whatever I missed. I hate that stuff.

Most times when I stay in the field late it don't rain like they said so I end up dragging my but the next day cause I ran most of the night the day before.

Makes a guy feel good when you beat the rain. Don't it?

Your in good shape over there in Jersey.

We are still trying to get a good start on corn here in Iowa.

Gary
