I've come across an old green small tractor that has tracks on it and I can't find any markings on it. My husband thinks it maybe an Oliver brand. I'd be happy to email photos to anyone who may know something about these kind of tractors?

Thanks!

Cobbled up mess,Hard to tell,a front view would help. What I can see of the final drives its not JD.I did a lot of repair work on JD MC crawlers.50 years have gone by, cant tell for sure.MCs had 3 and 4 roller tracks.Olivers I saw had a very narrow track.MCs had a lot of broken final drive housings.

Yes, you're absolutely right. This is not the original motor that came in the tractor. Thank you for pointing it out though.

Cletrac with many mods in reply to Darlene, 05-12-2008 10:07:55
The main part of the crawler is an Oliver-Cletrac late HG or OC3. Late model HGs and OC3s are identical. Early HGs have different front idlers than your's.

The three-speed transaxle is original and made by Clark. The added Warner T-96 three-speed trans is NOT original and was added. It was a trans commonly found in several American Motors and Jeeps (cars and trucks). Also used in some small tractors like Shaw DuAll R12s.

The engine obviously does not belong. Original engine was a four-cylinder Hercules IXB3. From a distance, looks like you've got a car or pickup truck engine stuck in it.

does look like an old Chevy 235 or 261. Seems to be blue like they were painted. Has a fan extender to put the blades close to the radiator, since it has no shourd.

Thank you for your help and actually the color of the tractor is green not blue. It may not have come right in color being emailed electronically. At any rate thank you.

Probly an Oliver/Cletrac. What you can see of the front grill looks like Cletrac. Hard to get an old Hercules six in a John Deere. Some of the Cletrac's came with the Hercules engines. The gas tank looks like Oliver.

Could this be a John Deere MT crawler? They were a JD M tractor with tracks like a dozer instead of wheels. Neat little machines. James and I would love to have one.

Can't be an MT. The JD MT is a tricycle wheeled tractor. The JD crawler is MC.

Could be an Oliver/Cletrac or a JD. Both company's made them. You might check out this web site and look at the pictures there to see if you find it there. cletrac.org. That site has a good number of pictures on it. You could also maybe send me pictures and I might have a good guess as to what it is.

My e-mail is in my web site as is pictures of a crawl that is like yours in many ways. From the pictures Its probably a Cletrac HG or OC-3. But it has the wrong engine in it but so does my Hg since my HG has an Oliver 60 engine in it
