I"m looking at a Bauer Famos III 60 gear driven PTO irrigation pump. The guy sent me the specs and it says the suction is DN 65 and the discharge is DN 50.
What does the DN stand for???
Here is the link to the pump.

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Grant

Thanks guys.

Yes I know electric is better. We run a 30 hp, a 50 hp and a 75 hp 3 ph 600 V vertical turbine pumps.

We are looking for a PTO pump which we can hook up and back feed into the filter.

Just back up if we loose power and need the pump for frost protection.

Thanks, Grant

If you have the choice an electric drive is cheaper than purchasing diesel fuel. Add a variable frequency drive and flow/pressure can be dialed in without using inefficient throttle valves.

More likely DIN? (Deutsch Industrial Norm). Meric 65 and 50 would be approx 2 1/2 and 2 inch. Just guessing.

Hi RAB,

I thought about the metric - but 2 - 2.5 " seems pretty small for the picture of this pump. (I know, pictures can be decieving on the internet).

I thought the DN (not DIN) could be Deutches Numer or Decameter (10 cm) - but that would be dm. But none of that makes sense.

Any moer thoughts??

Thanks, Grant

I don"t know what the DN stands for but my guess is that there must be some standards for the suction and discharge connect flanges on the pump and that"s what the DN numbers stand for. Ask the seller to explain it becuase to interface with this pump, you"ll have to mate up to these connect points.

Thanks Jerry,

The pump is used and it comes with all the fittings etc. The guy we talked to is the shop / sales guy and was unsure - owner comes back next week.

My guess its a 4" suction and 3" discharge??

Just want to save myself an afternoon of driving to look at a tool which ends up being a toy.

Thanks, Grant
