Yeah, but can a monkey read it?

Sometime a few months back, someone did some sort of experiment on a monkey comapared to an adult human, and whatever it was...was simpler than simple and the monkey could do it right everytime and faster. The scientists conducting the experiment made a big to do about the monkey's intelligence compared to the humans, and even questioned the human's compared to the monkey's. Yeah, right. The monkey was operating on a nearly empty hard drive. The human's hard drive was so full that it needed defragmenting. Either that, or the human challenging the monkey was one of its kookie scientist keepers whom could design a door knob, not turn one...I figured. And by the way, is it monkey or hey, hey its a monkee that keeps monkeying around? Grin.

For a hilarious...and provocative...short journey into phonetic spelling (it's a little slow to wade thru, but it's great fun), Google "Mayhem In The Classroom" and click on grr.net hit.
It's attributed there to an Isaac Asimov anthology, but it actually first appeared as one of the fact articles in Astounding SF, later Astounding SF & Fact, under the title (to the best of memory) as Meihem In (The?) Klasruum".

Our future generations will be in big trouble when competing on a global level. Are being so dumbed down won't be able to spell their own names, or even have to for that matter. Home school, home school, home school...is that hom skul? Mandated stupidity gets to me. Pull your kids out of school and home school them for their (our) future's sake.

Mark...or is my name Mrq (Good Lord, we're in trouble).

If you"re an Asimov fan, andrew-may.com has a listing of some of his articles in ASF...click on an "articles" link, scroll down past John Campbells editorials to an alphabetical list including Asimov.
I particularly remember "The Sound Of Panting".
