I own an L2550 with 1200 hours on it. While using it today, the engine developed a loud knock. Oil level was up, but the fuel may have been a little thick due to temp/consistency. The engine didn't seem to have normal power. Changed oil but found no particles in oil. Is a compression test next? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

O.K. So what is the trick to get those stinking injectors out?!

Just an update: I removed the fuel filter and found junk on the inside of the filter, it must have gotten past the o-ring, drained all the fuel, replaced the o-ring and filter and started it up. It still smokes and knocks. I loosened each of the injector lines. At each loosening, the engine noticeably dropped in rpm and picked back up when tightened. Stuck a board to my ear and each injector, noticeable difference in injector nearest clutch. Will try swapping injectors tomorrow to see if sound follows injector or possibly originates from pump. Anything I need to know about removing injectors?

Don,t get excited yet. No need to pull the oil pan just yet. As the man said we need to see just where this noise is comming from. Give me an e-mail and I can talk you thru several things before removing the oil pan. Jerry

A dripping injector can cause an engine to knock badly. I would suggest using something to approximate a stethoscope and listen at each injector nut. It should save a good deal of time and money if that turns out to be the problem.

I would take the oil pan off and check out the bearings.

I need a little help with the process. My Kubota is a 4wd and I believe that there is the front power shaft running between the two lobes of the oil pan to the front axle. There appears to be only about 3/4s of an inch play. Does the drive shaft need to be removed to drop the pan and if so, could you explain the process to pull the d/s? Thanks.
