Sometimes when you run out of bin space, you use the barn. Seemed to have over 3100 bushels in the south end.

But getting it out is fun. Here's the grain vac.

It's an old Dunbar Kappel model, someone else had it sitting in their grove for years. it used to have its own power plant, we put the 540 shaft on it and built an extension for the tube on the end. I call her Nessie for obvious reasons. :)

That is a 10" auger with a swing-out, big enough to make the 544 snort a little bit with a full load... We also have an 8" without a swing out that is just about as long, too... and a Brandt 7" for loading trucks... and we have one of those miserable Mayrath augers, as well. We use it for fertilizer, not much else...

The wheat we pile up is around 12% moisture and humidity is low that time of year. Only ever had a bit of spoilage around the edges if it rains on it.

Sorry to hijack your thread, Dan-IA

How many bushels does that bulk tank hold that is to the left of the friesen? Is that an 18ton feed tank?

Somewhere around 400 bushels, I think for the little hopper-bottom. The big bins hold around 4000 bushels if I remember right.

Is the Friesen a feed tank? I don't know... but we use it for feed in the winter, fertilizer in the spring, and wheat in the fall.

Steven, I wish you were closer to me, need that auger in the last pic. Trying to but up oats today, not having much luck. Mayreth auger threw the belt upteen times, and the cable that holds the tube gave out, DAMN and Double DAMN!!!! Oh well, I hope Napa has a belt tomorrow, I will pitch a fit otherwise, it wouldn't be so bad if it was us instead of a custom cutter. On the bright side, Oats are yielding great.

If you piled up grain like that around here, you'd have a big pile of malt for liquor mash before long.

I don't remember the name of ours... but it works OK. No speed demon, but it sure beats shoveling. Not a good pic because I was shooting for the tractor...

And this is how our "extra" grain storage always seems to end up:

Thanks for the pictures, always nice to see some tractor related material sneak through here once in a while! LOL
