Here's an old message on the subject.

If you can get a 10dn.. with a drive.. it's no big deal to get a regualtor for it.. you can find them on the internet cheap..

I'm pretty sure that this site sells a kit like that. I looked into it locally through Wilson and they do not sell the 10Si with a tach but they do sell the 10DN with a tach.... so you get the same body alt, you just need to add an external reg. Not my favorite, but it will work. The 10si is considered to be a 'shop project' if you want a tach drive...

Roy, were those mechanical drives? The 10si can be equiped with an AC tap for an electronic tach, Allis/Gleaners from the 70's used them.

I heard that some later MF tractors, maybe 2135 with the Continental engine and an alternator have the geared drive for the tachometer.

Some of the Oldsmobile Cutlass with the diesel engine had a tach drive. My 81 cutlass had a tach terminal on it.

I'd have my doubts. As far as I know, the Delco 10SI was built strictly for automotive applications. People just started putting them on tractors because they're easy to wire with the internal regulator.

That doesn't mean someone might not prove me wrong.
