Alright, I"ve been following the threads on this forum and up until now, I"ve quiet. Now I think its time to ask, What are you doing to keep your 2nd amendment right? There are some things you can do now. Are you a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA)? Get out your card and make certain. If you can"t find it or don"t know, then probably you aren"t and should join. While your at it give memberships out as Christmas presents. Below I"ll have a link to make it easy. If you belong to a hunting or gun club, see to it that all members must belong to the NRA. Make a change in the by-laws for it to stick. It is the lobbyist"s that give us a voice in Washington. When one our NRA representatives meets with a Congressman the first thing that politician asks is "how many voters are you representing". Imagine if you will the difference it would make if rather than saying 4 million, the NRA could say 10 or 20 million or more. It is votes that these politicians are worried about. The bigger the number, the louder our voice. I have had the discussion also, with Americans who for some reason or another allowed their NRA membership las because they didn"t think they were being represented. I ask them did they represent themselves to the NRA. I want people to be members but also to be involved in the NRA. Allow the NRA to hear your voice and carry your message to Washington. I don"t believe anybody will have to worry about the guns they own now being taken away but I do think that it maybe difficult to buy certain models in the future and even more importantly it will be drastically expensive and difficult to buy ammo. for your gun. Guns are worthless without ammunition. My final thoughts are that there are plenty of things that can be done and should be done to prepare ourselves for this battle to protect the 2nd ammendment. These do not involve building our arsonals or burying our guns. Nor does it involve "Rambo" statements or mentallity. But I beg you if you do care about our rights to join and become involved in the NRA and to also sign others up to be members of the NRA.

Yep ..... lobbyists are the real power in D.C. so it stands to reason that the NRA, being the prime defender of the 2nd Amendment, would need money ... Roger? If you can contribute more when that mail or phone request comes, do it. If you can't or won't kick in some extra that's OK, too; but to not keep your membership up because of the solicitation is pretty self-defeating. I've been a life member for over 30 years and still try to give extra when the chips are down (elections, pending court cases, etc.). My 2¢.

A review of the comments here, might suggest to an unbiased observer, that the NRA and/or individual firearm ownership is more important to the composer than anything they have or have had between their legs.

Wrong I"m afraid. The SCOTUS in a 5-4 vote said it was illegal for the District of Columbia to denying a permit to a resident there to keep a gun in his home. Thats not an overwhelming endorsement of the 2nd Amend. as an individual right. The fight is just starting.

Do you really think the NRA is so vital that individual freedom of choice should be eliminated? That as a gun owner one should be prohibited from joining gun clubs unless they join the NRA? My friend, you have a very different view on freedoms than I do.

Personally, I believe individuals should have the choice to make a decision themselves. A right that I would extend to gun owners as well. A right to choose to join the NRA if they wish, or the right not to join the NRA. For if the NRA does not represent the views of a person, they should not be forced to join.

I have hought for years that guns will be harder to buy. Wal Mart in our area of Illinois quit selling hand guns 20 years ago as now did sports authority did some years back here. This has been planned for quite some time.

Free advertising or not, this poster has the right idea. Join - and join for multiple years if you can possibly afford it. I just renewed mine for two more years and I wasn't near expiration - but I figure they are doing good work on my behalf and they need the money now, not in two years.

In case you missed it, there has been a coup in this country and good people have been overthrown - but we are down, not out!

Armed people are citizens, disarmed people are subjects.

No, not my intention at all but I can see how it may be viewed as such. I guess I get tired of hearing the same old lines about the gov. taking guns away. By people who may or may not be NRA members. I just wonder if the ones concerned with their gun ownership rights are willing to put their money where their mouth is.

Again I can see where this maybe viewed as an NRA advertisement and while not intending to do so, if I crossed any lines or broke any rules I apologize to the moderators and users of this forum.
