I have a 1950 M serial# FBK 217278X1. What does the X1 stand for? I'm practicing my restoring skills on this tractor as I also have a 40 M that I hope to do a better job on.

Randy x1 stands for gasoline. Over in the left tool bar under community select Forums and then select Farmall & IHC and join us.

Thanx to the red for the info. say if your still out there, I have an M # FBK 24508 which I think is a 1940. could that tractor have burned fuel other than gas? the reason i ask is there is a hole in the hood for filling like a pony tank. but all the hardware, ponytank, fuel lines, etc.
are not ther. Maybe its just not the original hood.

Sorry for not responding earlier. I was out at my JD 4400 combine getting ready to move it 4 miles through Indianapolis. That should be interesting!

Guy Fay could tell you the answer right out but since it is lacking the x1, I would guess that you had a duel fuel to start with even though the little tank, lines and probably the two line fuel strainer are gone.

Thanx the red for the additional info. I'm new to the internet and this web site so i'm wondering who is guy fay ? Would have been back sooner but I was out in the field harvesting a bumper crop of fieldstones. Then I got the pressure washer out and washed my tractors off. Two M's, a 706D, AND A 1586. Nothing like a yard full of shiney red tractors. .u
