I know folks around here don't care too much for Belarus tractors, but i am having problems with mine and was hoping someone out there could help. I was working with mine Saturday and the transmission locked up. The forward and reverse lever works ok but the lever for shifting gears is locked up. It won't go toward the front of the tractor at all. It is toward the rear of the tractor, being able to go side to side. In the center, the tractor will move forward or reverse in about a 5 th gear. If you put the shifter either to the left or right, the tractor will not move but will load the engine down. Hoping some one could help. Thanks...Emery

Sounds like your shifter got out of the 5th gear slot and left your tractor in 5th gear. When attempt to put it in another, your transmission is locked up. This is a common problem with other tractors as well. You will have to unbolt your gear shifter if you can and use a pry bar or long screwdriver and line all your shifter rails back to neutral then reinstall you gear shift lever.

Emery, I can't really help you, but there are people here who can. You may also want to check the archives of this message board...usually any subject that can be thought of has already been discussed at one time or another... I am curious however, how long have you had your tractor??? I almost bought a Belarus 250 AS, but found a good deal on an International 460 instead.... I always wondered if the Belarus 250 AS was any good....any comments you have would be appreciated.

Daniel, I have had my Belarus 4 or 5 yrs. I bought
it used and was a couple of years old when i bought it. It has served me well. Not real pretty and has numerous leaks. I could use more horespower, but for its size, it will work hard. I like the downward pressure on the hydraulics, helps when digging holes in hard ground. When i bought it, i didn't know much about tractors, having learned a lot since then. I am looking to add a larger tractor, If i could find a 50 horse Belarus, i would buy it. There is a dealer not too far from me so if i need parts or in this case, service, i can get it. I was just hoping not to have to spend the money. I am coming off of major surgery and going through chemo, so i don't need the extra expense. I received a message from someone who has a 250 AS and i think that i can fix it. Anyway, thanks for the reply...Emery
