" Same to you Stan!" Go to these web sites, they deal with and collect Lanz Bulldog tractors and many of them have Field Marshall's, check all their links and e-mail them for your information. www.chez.com/tractoretro

Hey Sarah: I thought several months ago it was determined that you, and your kind, were to keep the STUPID stuff over on the Tales forum so that no one could end up getting hurt from your stupid remarks. Get back over there. Someone could start sending your kind of crud to the people who pay for this great tractor website. They would not enjoy knowing that someone could get hurt reading dumb stuff from goofy type of people. Sarah, why can't you learn. Be serious here and stupid over on Tales forum. Sarah, grow up. Act like an adult.

Unscrew cartridge holder cap on left front of tractor, place cartridge in with metal end up and replace screw cap.

Sarah might know about a marshall that I bought eight years ago. Someone had, in fact, put a 12 gauge shotgun shell in and hit the firing pin, blowing the holder apart and blowing part of his hand off with it.

I want to buy a Marshall or a Fowler if anyone has one for sale at a good price.

thanks Sonny, but i was looking for the specifications for reloading the cartridge itself. the accident you describe was what i was afraid would happen if someone took Sarahs message to heart. I was a bit rude to you though Sarah,,,sorry. PS.we have a spare Marshall ( or most of it ) might be a bit too far away though methinks Sonny

I have one left. I will describe it as best I can.
It is a 12 ga paper shell 2-3/8 inch long, the cap is clear plastic so I can see that it is completley full of powder. The powder is like pencil lead pieces aprox 1/10 inch long.
ELEY-KYNOCH 12 on the brass.Marshall of Gainsborough and Marshall diesel engine power start cartridge on the paper. Hope this is some help.

Thanks for that Jon,,we have half a box of original cartridges that we want to aviod using.
We know reloads are available, but as i have the equipment to reload them myself, it's piontless paying someone else to do it. What i need is the type of powder (the originals were cordite) and the charge wieght. They are a standard size 12g shotgun shell which is why Sarah's comment cheesed me off,,someone will try one loaded with shot, and get hurt!

Stan,

If you can't find any better information (and I sure hope you can), have you considered "working up" a load? That is, start out with a load that you know is safe, then increase it until you have enough power?

From Jon's description of the powder, it sounds like it uses some sort of IMR (Improved Military Rifle) powder. Rifle powders burn much slower than shotgun or pistol powders, which makes sense considering how the cartridge is used, and the fact that Jon's is completely full. Dupont IMR-4831 would be a likely candidate; it's moderately slow and readily available.

If you try this (and I'm not certain that you should), carefully inspect each cartridge case for any signs of excess pressure after each test firing. Needless to say, this is highly risky activity; be careful.
