Left work at 11 to come home and spray corn, Wind supposed to die down this afternoon. After a couple of unexpected problems, I got mixed up and started about 2. South end if farm is a hill with about 8 acres of terraces, waterways and hills. Finally got that sprayed and filled tank and started in again. Got the worst of the hills sprayed and got onto the flat ground, finally making some headway. Coming up on 6 o'clock, might have enough time to fill again and get another 20 acres off before dark, wait a minute, why is this tractor wiggling sideways? Looked down, and left rear tire is almost flat. Almost to endrows, think I can make it and run to house. NOT!!! Walked to house and got pickup and generator and air compressor. Wish I had bought that little compressor that I thought I didn't need now, all I can do to load mine. Got tire aired up and tractor back to house. Got out the 1850 and tied the controls on with tarp strap and wire and finished that tank. 8 o'clock, do I have time to mix another tank and run it off? Why is that hose leaking? Old metal fitting by strainer is leaking, maybe I can tighten it up or put a new clamp on it. Hose came off with fitting inside it. Took it apart and found another fitting and got it back together. Too late now, call it a day. Supposed to be windy tomorrow, but corn is almoct too big and rain coming Thursday, so I guess I'll leave work early again tomorow if it's not raining and try to finish. Just another normal day on the farm here in Illinois City. Chris

Not trying to brag, but its such a rare occurence I've gotta mention it. Got the sprayer out of mothballs Sunday, sprayed everything, and everything worked PERFECTLY the whole time. A memorable occassion, what with the old junk I run. I was so inspired I went to the farm store and got the stuff to add a hand wand, so I can attack the blackberries next.

Thought i was the only one with those kind of days, still trying to finish spraying wheat up this way, between broken boom, shorted out foamer, pump seal, and a hydraulic hose the day went like clockwork, the thing about rock bottom is there is no way to go but up, take care.

Sounds like you had a busy one all right. It's good you can get time off from your job to do the farming. I would use my vacation days to take care of my mowing and discing when I got behind. Wife and my self never took a vacation so I had plenty days to use. I hope you work for someone where you can take days off and get paid for it. Stan
