1933 Linn model D-33-DUR Antique Tractor
 | A Cummins Diesel 'HA' 6 cyl. powered Linn pulling a 'arched frame' grader near Grand Gorge, NY, July, 1933, for the NYSDOT. As a follow up on the discussion of old road graders. Some town superintendets argued about Walter trucks being better than Linns for this work, but speed isn't really a factor and the early Walter trucks were very expensive to maintain compared to Linn on annual basis of parts/repairs. Once highways were 'improved' they didn't need as much grading, or allow steel tracked & grouser machines like the Linn to operate on them. Using big 4WD trucks in the summertime was generally expensive and the towns that still have them now generally keep them in reserve only for snow removal, as they did the Linn 40 years ago.
