Plowed for years in central Indiana with 3-14s on an M. The M had an M&W overbore kit, and was (still is) a very free-running tractor. We farmed with it pulling 3-14s and the SM pulling 4-14's. The M would go ANYWHERE in 2nd, most places in 3rd, and while it would pull the plow in 4th, we didn't, because it tends to beat the pilot bearing right out of the transmission! Most of our ground has very little clay, except for a few spots. One day when Dad was doing some maintenance on the SM and not looking, I put the M on the 4-14 Moline plow... To his surprise and my pleasure, the old M would still go anywhere in 2nd, and most places in 3rd! In fact, it handled it every bit as well in 3rd as the SM because 3rd gear in an M is a little slower than an SM. I've got a 3pt on the M now, and use it to pull a 3-16 mounted JD plow.

There are many types of cylinders that one might run across on a farm scenario. Each one could take a chapter in
