Ron, This always brings up a lot of opinions supporting both sides. Here's mine: As long as the engine is clean inside and doesen't need a rebuild, I use Chevron Delo 400 30W. I do this because it's readily available and I don't have to look all over the place to find non-detergent oil. I use it in everything except my pickup and the wife's car. It keeps my life simpler. I have never had an oil related failure of any engine part while using high quality name brand oils. However, if I found that the engine in any piece of power equipment I own had a crankcase full of sludge, I wouldn't hesitate to pull it down and clean it out. Then I would use the same oil in it that I use in everything else. My 2¢, Phil
