starting out in 4th and shafting out not bad as far as TA starting out in 5th TA not bad pulling TA going down hill is always bad. I do not have manual, but a book I have called International Harvester Tractors 1950-1985 writen by Ken Updike explains the TA. In the book he states that ( the manual specifically states that the TA lever must be forward position going down hill. The TA is a 32% erduction so if that is true then if coasting down hill in TA with the rear wheels driving some part of the TA must be turning at a 32% increase in speed if in 5th that not much but every gear lower than 5th will increase that speed buy the ratio of the gear that the tranny is in so if in low now we through parts all over H.
