Are you sure the battery is being recharged? You may be starting the tractor on charge the new battery has built up since the last time the tractor was operated. In other words, the ignition is using the battery power to run each time you use the tractor and the generator is not charging hence not recharging the battery. Next time you start the tractor and while it's running lift off the hot battery lead and see if the tractor conitues to run. If it don't, your generator is not putting out any voltage.
