As mentioned previously, the gearboxes will not interchange. The pulleys likely will. I think you'll find a variety of sizes of pulleys were available from IH as original equipment. The M pulleys were generally larger. There was also a difference in materials used. Some tractors came with steel pulleys, some with a laminated paper surface.
