There are some thigns you can do without getting into the engine internals. Open up the governor, open the air passage, turn the hitch around,hot plugs and coil. Also lose as much weight as you can. My brother is trying to get his M into #4000 range to run with the H's and smaller JD's. One more thing run the classics classes with your stocker. You have to run against hotter tractors in the Open classes and the M pulls best in low anyway.
