In 1950 my uncle decided to trade in his '41 H for a new one. The local IH dealer had one on the lot with a "high speed 4th". Well, after trying it out he bought it. The 7 mph 4th gear was nice, but it would have been great to have had the old 5mph 4th too. Some jobs like pullin' the old 490 JD planter were too much for the new H in 4th unless you opened her up, then it was too fast. Boy O Boy, you could sail through the corn the last time through with the 2 row 238 cultivator, he never got a 4 row cultivator 'till he got the Super MTA. There were a couple of "9 speed" M&W M's around but no H's.
