It is a great engine, with only one flaw. It doesn't like cold weather. We have one in a 756. It will start down to -10 without being plugged in, but it takes a lot of pushing. I have had to do this once, because the block heater died in the night, and cows have to fed. Runs excellent, lots of torque. I would like to get a 686 with one in it.
