YES a cub engine can be rebuilt , you have to bore the block , pistons come in std. .020, .030..040, .060 after that you can sleave it back to std. and start over again,as long as the block is in good condition. It is almost like working on a toy to me after some of the things i work on.I went over to a freind's the other nite to help him with his cub and he had it scatered all over the floor ,he is replacing all the seals and gskt.and rebuilding the engine,got it in kit form some assy. required and batterys not inc.
