Just took one off my B. Tried a gear puller after loosing the set screws with no luck. Soaked with cheap old WD40 and got back to it in about 3 days and it pulled right off by hand. On this B it did not turn off it has a key in the shaft and you must loosen the set screws and slide it straight off. Don't know if the M is the same. I did take off the radiator and other junk in the way.
