If gas is dripping from the carb with the engine off, then the float is set to high, or the needle valve is leaking, or the float is sticking for some reason. Since you rebuilt the carb, I assume the needle valve and seat should be good. If you take the carb off again, you can check that by putting a piece of tubing on where the gas line goes in and blowing through it while you work the float. It should shut off tight when the float is lifted up. Also the float must work freely and not bind on anything. First thing I would do in your situation, would be to lower the float some more.
