American Bosch Magneto trips before TDC

I have a Farmall M with an American Bosch Magneto. I just overhauled the engine and plan to start it tomorrow. I was making the final settings and cannot get the magneto impulse to trip at TDC. It wants to trip about an inch before TDC on the crankshaft pulley. I tried moving the magneto on the housing and still cannot get the trip at TDC. I know for a fact that the timing gears are timed correctly.

Is the impulse trip at TDC critical with an American Bosch Magneto? If so, can the timing be corrected with the magneto, or do I have to move the drive gear one tooth? Any help would be appreciated. I did read the archives and still have questions.
