Cooling System Question

I'm the one with the C that appears to be overheating. It does not have a water pump. Symptom persists after topping off coolant. I picked up a new temp gauge today, so I will know for sure what operating temp is.

If there is a blockage, my first suspicion is the radiator itself. Might I expect to see a pile of crud if I remove the lower hose? And whether or not I do, how effective is it to flush the radiator with a garden hose?

Any feedback or ideas much appreciated..
