Hy-Tran is the Case IH brand of hydraulic/transmission oil. Each brand has there own name for hydraulic/trans oil. IH just calls thier's Hy-Tran. Their almost all the same, but some have differnet additives to protect or do different things in differnet tractor brands. Hy-Tran is a sure thing for an IH to protect everything. You don't have to be too conserend about using a different brand in your 300, as long as it meats all the same specs and standards. If you use JD brand in your Deere, it probally wouldn't hurt to use it. When you talk about hydro's and powershifts is when you really need to be conserned. Although, I though I'm not sure if the TA will be be protected in the same way. I seen a hydro that got sold at the dealership I worked at get sold and then buyer insisted we put JD brand hydraulic oil in it. The hydro worked great when it was sold. About 6 weeks later it came back with the hydro completely toar out of it. All we used it for was mowing. The JD oil was probally to blame because it didn't protect the hydro like the IH oil was designed to do. If you use the same impliments between the two tractors, you'll conaminate both tractors if you use two differnt brands in each tractor. It's up to you, but I ussually stay with what the manufacture tells me to stay with.
