The companies in my area that do this (and they are few and far between), are usually dealers who carry new equipment, used equipment and perform repair work. They do restorations on the side and they are expensive. So if it is part of a larger operation, I think it can be successful. There are also companies who specialize in generator rebuilds, carb rebuilds, and the such. A successful business usually is going to have low overhead (ie be the low cost provider), have high volume, and a reasonable profit margin. I have not done it, but my opinion is that a company whose sole income is generated from the restoration of tractors would be destined for failure. I'm sure this will generate a debate, but is my opinion. If it helps my credibility at all, I have an MBA, I love tractors, and would love to do just what you describe, but I just don't think it is workable....BB
